18 months ago, an idea was born.We knew our phones listened to our conversations,we knew our data and information was being mined and used without our permission.we knew we had become commodities for advertisers. We felt we had no other choice. We knew that major platforms controlled what we talked about,we knew they censored whatever they didn't agree with,we know that they could remove us at their whim,we knew we were disposableWe felt we had no other choice. We knew these platforms made billions off of us,we knew we would not see a single dollar sent our way,we knew we were just a monetized asset controlled by a company. We felt we had no other choice. We are moving consistently deeper into a digital reality. Our lives depend more and more on the online world.Without a change of direction, tech giants will progressively push the line on how blatantly they can exploit us.That is not something I'm cool with.Humanity deserves more.Unless someone tries to make a change, no one will.So let's do this.A platform where freedom of speech is upheld, where the privacy of your data is respected and kept secure, where algorithms are transparent, and where you earn for the value you put in.An ecosystem where YOU are the priority.18 months from an idea, we're now the most engaged monetized social platform in the world, and we're just getting warmed up.Zuck, we're coming for you.

Self-isolation and social distancing are proving to be very challenging for many, including me. I'm taking this time to reach out to anyone who may be struggling with anxiety at this challenging time in our lives. -I have dealt with anxiety at varying degrees since I was very young. Always being called the sky kid in school, I would find solitude being by myself behind a computer. I am writing this post to let you know; you are not alone! The whole Uptrennd team and I are here to support anyone that may be struggling emotionally. *Chocolate chip cookies with bacon, YUM!Here are a few things that I have found helpful to keep my spirits high. Talking with others:I have found that communicating with others is the best way for me to get out of my negative headspace. By expressing how I feel to another human, I have come to realize that many others are going threw high levels of stress/anxiety. Just knowing that I am not alone in my battle brings a strong sense of calm and peace into my life. Now is the perfect time to reach out to distant family, high school friends and other acquaintances that you may not communicate with daily. You may not consider yourself to suffer from anxiety, but you never know who it is. -Yesterday, I found myself in an especially gloomy mood. Out of the blue, an old high school friend reached out to me. Before I knew it 2 hours had gone by, and I was almost crying, I was laughing so hard. Exercise/Yoga:I have found that the perfect way to start any morning is by being kind to myself. I start by sitting calmly on the floor and doing simple yoga and breathing exercises. By allowing myself to become grounded, it enables me to start my day off fresh without the fear or worry of the previous day. After about only 10 minutes of stretching and deep breathing, I go straight into a HIT "High-Intensity Training" workout in my living room. The closure of your local gym is no reason not to exercise. A HIT workout only takes between 15 to 20 mins, go on give it a try I promise that you will feel great after. It is essential that after doing a HIT workout, you do some deep stretching to help ward off that sore feeling you get the day after a hard workout. I complete my morning workout/yoga session in about 45 minutes and feel completely at peace with the world after doing something good for myself. -Give it a try! Here are are few of my HIT workouts and yoga channels that I use 100% free on youtube. Fitness Blender-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiP6wD_tYlYLYh3agzbByWQYoga With Adriene-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFKE7WVJfvaHW5q283SxchABoth of the above channels are great for everyone, from beginners to fitness professionals. With all this extra time on your hands, now is a great time to do something good for yourself. I have decided to create a group on Telegram for anyone who may be struggling threw this very challenging time in history. If you find yourself struggling to cope or you would like to help someone who is, please join the group below.https://t.me/PositiveVibesOnlyPlease -Invite your friends, hope to see you there!Feel free to ping me @NathanKaytar if you would like to chat. Hello Trenndians,After listening to the news and going through the internet, I came to realize that Nigeria is at a very high risk of a widespread of coronavirus, we already have 97 confirmed cases spread across different states of the country, of the 36 states there are confirmed cases in 12 states already with Lagos state having the highest number (59 confirmed cases) and numerous people who have come in contacts with these people, although they are asked to self isolate while NCDC keeps checking on them to see if they are developing any symptoms. the suspected numbers so far are over 4000 people according to the contact tracking of those that returned into the country within that period of time., with eti-osa and Ikeja local government having the highest rate of contacts and infected people so far.most of these confirmed cases are returnees, they've had travel history in the past 10days before Nigeria took this pandemic virus seriously, lots of people who were out of the country returned back to the country hoping to come and stay safe at home not knowing they are actually putting us at risk, they have brought this virus back home to us, now we have to deal with, how pathetic. Many of the top government bodies have been tested positive, lots of celebrities are at risk, some have tested positive as well, some of the persons who tested positive attended the popular "African magic viewers choice awards" (AMVCA) which was held in Eko hotel on the 14th of march in Lagos state, the number of attendees in this event was in thousands and one way or the other some of them have come in contact with one of the positive cases, now it like a chain, those other people also must have come in contact with many other persons, hence the figure is uncountable, the Lagos state government announced that they all observe strict self-isolation in other to curb the spread provided some of them are already infected. I feel so sad and scared for Nigeria because I am not sure our health sector can handle it if covid-19 cases become outrageous than what it is right now. kudos to Lagos state government with the help of some prominent people and organizations who are trying to ensure there are enough facilities on ground that is able to accommodate citizens as it is said that if the case becomes worse in the state we might witness about 39,000 cases, this figure is so scary, and it goes to show that after investigating the number of people that must have come in contact with the already positive cases they came up with this scary number of possible cases in future. many donations have been made, many things have been put in place one of which is the national stadium in surulere Lagos, many volunteers are out there ready to fight this virus but that's not enough. We as citizens need to support these people and not render their efforts uselessimage source: national stadium image source: rccg donationNigerians please stay at home, self-isolate, practice social distancing, covid-19 is real, the possible 39,000 cases is just an assumed number for Lagos state, what about the other 11 states with positive cases already? Kaduna state governor tested positive just today, do you know how many people he must have come in contact with, no we don't.Nigeria is at a bigger risk now, please pray for Nigeria, pray for Lagos state, please pray for the world, we don't know what the number will be by tomorrow, I am not scared because I would be infected or any of my family members, of course, I am certain we won't be infected but I am scared of losing the many strong and innocent citizens of this great nation, together we can control and defeat the widespread of covid-19, stop taking this whole thing for granted, play our part while the government plays theirs, follow the rules and orders to control and combat this virus, I believe we can do it and irrespective of everything I rep naija for life :)One love Nigeria, one love Africa, one love to the world, I hope we sing a victory song soon over coronavirus.#peaceout :)NB:- every other image was taken from twitter @NCDCgov
