Who do Executives Blame for Cybersecurity Failures?

My rant in response to the former CEO of SolarWinds pointing the finger of blame at an intern in an attempt to redirect cybersecurity responsibility, highlights a lack of understanding and accountability within the c-suite.

To be honest, CEOs and directors are used to the fun of pointing the blame fingers; years back at my previous job, I literally warned the board of director of a serious sanction that may happen if some strategies were not put in place. Well, they took my recommendation for a joke; 3 months after the company got 2 major seals from the oil and gas governmental body and a bigger one from the federal government totalling a tune of 20 Million.

Well, these guys like to cut expensive corners lol...at last, they get burned big time.

Agreed.  Expectations for leadership must be higher.  Businesses must improve in these areas.  It is simply unethical.

when there's a problem, rather than facing it and finding solutions, the bigger boys play the victim and point fingers, love your response, let's call a spade a spade.

That is very sad.  Great leaders don't blame others or find excuses.  They take responsibility and make situations better!

I dont think an intern should be to blame, people should be overseeing this for sure, blame always starts at the top
