This particular photograph of the aftermath of a particularly indecisive duel between these two snakes.
For some background, the snakes depicted in this photograph are a King Cobra and a Reticulated Python. King Cobras are specialized in preying on a variety of other snake species, which on occasions includes pythons.
Unfortunately for this particular King Cobra, its would be meal ended up fighting back. The Python constricted its attacker, slowly suffocating the Cobra to death. Before the Cobra succumbed to the Python’s coils, it managed to inject a fatal dose of its venom into the Python’s neck. Thus the warring snakes ended up killing each other.
