Just the other morning I saw a beautiful red, black and white butterfly in my garden. It was flitting about from flower to flower making the best of life. It seemed so happy that just watching it made me happy. This butterfly just wouldn't sit in one place for a second, I tried really hard but I could get one decent shot of this beautiful creature in my camera.
This kept me wondering. It's as if this butterfly knew his life is short and made the best of it. It seemed so keen on enjoying every flower in the garden.
It would bask in a sun spreading its wings wide for a moment's rest and then fly away going about being happy.
This butterfly was in my garden for almost an hour and I followed it around all the time at a distance.
All the time it was there it was busy working hard for its food, enjoying itself, resting and being back to doing what it enjoyed doing.
It seemed like there was nothing else on its mind than living in the moment and making the most of the time it had. What if we too could live like this? Being happy, enjoying what we do and making the best of our time on this earth without ever spending time envying others, picking up quarrels with others or being angry or dissatisfied.
A couple of mornings later when I came to the garden, this is what I saw, that beautiful life had come to an end. That happy being was gone and in its place were its once beautiful flitting wings now lying in the soil and even plants growing over them.
Life is short and fragile, let's make the best of it. Let's be happy, do all the good we can and become a source of nourishment for this Earth.
