Boybands won't take long in music industry as support by fans might wane after few albums. Even the biggest selling boybands will either take hiatus or disband after few years. In fact, seven years seemed long for them. Other boybands will continue but that's their way showing their love for music. Let's check how some of the top boybands performed since mid-1990s.
Backstreet Boys
Backstreet Boys has released a total 9 studio albums, and that's a lot. They're still active up to this day, and still managed to sell. However, their peak or glory days may be considerably started in 1996. Their debut single was released in 1995, but their success came in 1996 in Europe and Asia. Their US success started in 1997 via their US version of their self-titled album, but their peak was in 1999 through Millennium. "Black and Blue" was still a hit but the start of their decline. I think the end of their glory days ended in 2001 after their compilation album release.
NSYNC
NSYNC was also first known internationally, and was unknown in the US. They gained attention in 1997, but US performance started to pick up in 1998. The start of their real commercial success was in 1999, and their peak was in 2000 through the record breaking album "No Strings Attached". Their album "Celebrity" was still a hit in 2001, and their end was observed in 2002 through their last hit "Girlfriend", which that same year, Justin Timberlake left the group, and he seemed never had a "plan" to reunite with them professionally.
One Direction
There's an era when boybands don't gain attention. Westlife and Blue might have been successful despite the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC hiatus, but those UK and Ireland boybands weren't successful in the US. Then came One Direction, with members from UK and Ireland, and they became the biggest boyband of their era. Their international success started in 2012, and I think, their peaks would have been from that year until 2014 as they released albums every year. They're still huge in 2015 until 2016, the time Zayn left the band.
