A little while ago I wrote about the legendary Argentine football icon, Amando Diego Maradona. I wished him quick recovery knowing full well he was undergoing series of treatments following his protracted health issues.
But unfortunately Maradona could not make it; he passed on just yesterday and has subsequently been buried too in a very private funeral ceremony. Maradona was truly one of the best the round leather game has produced.
The football world and indeed the entire world will greatly miss the once infant terrible of modern soccer. And of course, how can anyone forget about the popular ‘Hand of God’ –a controversial goal he scored with the help of his hand in the 1986 FIFA World Cup match against England?
He was a deft left footer and a dazzling attacking mid-fielder of note. There are so many lessons to be learned from the life and times of this great man as he departs this world.
Adieu the ebullient and charismatic man of soccer; may he rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.

Morgan Nwanguma 30 NovVery well put Wale; it was indeed a time of drawn swords between the two countries except that they only had to show their (healthy) rivalry on the field of play. Remember that just before that world cup the two nations were just healing from the 1982 war they fought over Falkland Islands which Argentina lost to (Britain) England. What a match - that soccer encounter when Argentina took her 'revenge'.
