This is my entry for Guardian @Hafsa M 's Photography contest. The bee pictures were taken on my DSLR cannon 1100 and the first butterfly with my phone.
This image below is that of the Xylocopa Latipes or the carpenter bee that burrows into dead wood. This is a large bee, which buzzes quite loudly as it flies. This photograph was taken at midday and though the light is harsh it seems to highlight the color and the details of the wings so well.
Besides that you can also see the beauty of the white passion flower which contrasts well with the metallic black color of the bee. This is one of my favorite shots. Photography is not just about taking a nice picture, it is also the picture composition and this one turned out to be amazing. The shadows add depth to the picture as well, turning the light to my advantage.
Another shot of the Xlyocopa Latipes from a different angle. I love this angle because you can see the complete image.

A photograph of a butterfly taken in the open field.
I love the unity of design in this picture as the buds on the butterfly bush seem to highlight the dots on the butterflies wings. It is not easy to photograph butterflies and bees, but I love the challenge. It kind of provokes me to run after them and capture them digitally.
